[苦手な表現] 「しかできなかった」could only do
😏「しかできなかった」という表現はI could only doでいいかなと思います。
何らかの原因で行動などが制限される言い方です。
・I could only eat light food because of my stomachache.「胃痛のせいで軽いものしか食べられなかった」のように言えば良いかなと思います。
形容詞としてのconfined「限られた」やrestricted「制限された」もよく使われています。(be confined to somethingやbe restricted to something)
・I was confined to eating light food because of my stomachache.（confinedはrestrictedより強めの制限：例えば医師の指示に従っている）
・I was restricted to eating light food because of my stomachache.（restrictedはconfinedより弱め：例えば、自己判断で自ら制限している）
