【一般的な可算名詞としてのexceptionの例】
・I used to believe that cats inherently prefer solitude, but it seems that our pet cat at home is the exception.「私はネコというのは元来孤独を好むと信じていたが、我が家の愛猫はどうやら例外らしい。」💡我が家の猫は特定されているので定冠詞を付けてthe exception。💡be an exceptionとかbe the exceptionの様な言い方。
【exception toの例】
・There are many exceptions to English grammar.「英語の文法には多くの例外がある」💡there are exceptions to …という言い方は多いです。
【with the exception ofの例】
・I generally like animals with the exception of snakes.「蛇以外の動物なら大抵好きです」💡前置詞のexceptで書き換えると、I generally like animals except snakes.です。
【no exceptionの例】
・His novels are all very interesting, and his latest work is no exception.「彼の小説はどれもとても面白いが、最新作も例外ではない。」💡be no exceptionで「も例外ではない」※このフレーズは私の個人的な弱点。(理由は分かりません)
【without exceptionの例】
・Conduct the machine’s weekly check on Monday mornings without exception.「例外なく、機械のウィークリーチェックを月曜の朝に実施してください。」💡Without exception, …のように前に出してもいいですね。
📌TOEICなどは一瞬で文意を取らないと厳しいですが、過去、私はbe no exceptionというフレーズを使った文の意味が咄嗟にわからず焦ったので、時々でも復習しておかなきゃと思ってます。この投稿には今後例文を増量していくと思います。
